Child Support

Child support is a very important and necessary part of both custody and divorce proceedings.

Federal and local law require non-custodial parents to pay child support to ensure that they contribute to the well-being of their child. How much a parent is required to pay is often a source of tension as one party has one idea and often times it is opposite of the other. Our firm has extensive knowledge of child support law and can guide either party in establishing a child support schedule that is both respective of each parent’s financial situation while complying with the law.

Unlike spousal support child support is mandatory. It is extremely rare for child support of some kind to be waived and as a result both parties can benefit from legal counsel. Our family law attorneys will review all the information you provide and ensure that the child support ordered is sufficient to support the child(ren) and reflective of the non-custodial parent’s resources.

If you already have an order but it is not being complied with our attorneys can also help. Our attorneys can assist with the non-payment of child support or support order violations by filing motions in court to bring the matter before a judge so that the non-custodial parent can answer for his or her actions. If necessary, our attorneys can also assist with locating absent parents to either have them begin paying or have them held accountable for non-payment. Our goal is to make sure your child has what they are entitled to.
